# SalSmart — סל חכם

> מחירי מוצרי סופר בישראל לפי רשת וסניף, מתוך קבצי שקיפות המחירים הפומביים. חיפוש MCP ו-HTTP/JSON חינמי לפי שם בעברית או ברקוד, ללא מפתח API.

SalSmart provides Israeli grocery prices in ILS. Coverage is partial. Price records do not establish inventory or the lowest price in Israel. Source names can be abbreviated. `update_date` is a source price-change timestamp, not the time a source file was fetched; null means unknown. `unit_of_measure` is not necessarily the package size.

## Public MCP

- Endpoint: `https://salsmart.com/mcp`, Streamable HTTP. Use a compatible MCP client; this URL is not an HTML page. No Salsmart login or API key is required.
- `search_products`: read-only, free product search. Arguments: `q` (2–100 characters, Hebrew/name/manufacturer/barcode string), optional integer `limit` (1–20, default 20). Returns the same branch prices and source timestamps as free REST search, with ILS currency, product citation URLs and coverage notes.
- `get_data_status`: read-only, free source freshness and covered-branch status. Arguments: `{}`. Do not infer live inventory or nationwide coverage.
- An optional MCP Apps interface can render inside compatible ChatGPT/Claude hosts. Text and structured results remain usable without UI support. Tools do not purchase products, sell access or take payments.
- Search shares the REST allowance: 60 admitted requests per fixed UTC minute and 500 per UTC day per network address. Host services can share outgoing addresses across users. An MCP tool error is not an empty search result; honor any supplied retry delay.
- Direct custom-connector connection is ready. Approval for public ChatGPT/Claude directory listings has not been granted. See [connection instructions](https://salsmart.com/connect).

## REST API

- Free: `GET https://salsmart.com/api/product-search?q={name-or-barcode}&limit=5`. Required `q` of 2–100 characters; default limit 20, maximum 20. Free quota: 60 valid admitted attempts per fixed UTC minute and 500 per UTC day per network address. Invalid input does not consume quota; shared networks share the allowance. HTTP 429 includes `Retry-After` and `RateLimit-*`; honor the reset delay. HTTP 503 is an outage, not no matching data. Response: `{query,count,products}`; each product includes source metadata and per-branch offers ordered by price. Verify the returned barcode for an exact match.
- Production prepaid: `GET https://salsmart.com/api/v1/search?q={name-or-barcode}&limit=100`. Requires `Authorization: Bearer <API_KEY>` and an 8–128-character `Idempotency-Key`. q is 2–100 characters; limit 1–100, default 20. A newly completed HTTP 200 search, including zero results, costs one credit. A one-time ILS 19 pack provides 1,000 credits with no automatic renewal. Buy through https://salsmart.com/api-plan after user authorization; do not silently pay or renew.
- Paid retry safety: reuse the SAME key and parameters after uncertainty. Exact response replay lasts 24 hours and costs zero; read `Idempotency-Expires-At`, `Idempotent-Replayed` and `X-Credits-Charged`. A reused expired key returns 409 `idempotency_expired` and never bills again; a new paid search requires a new key. Changed parameters return 409 `idempotency_conflict`. Validation/authentication/internal failures consume no credits; 402 means balance exhausted.
- Usage: `GET https://salsmart.com/api/v1/usage` with the Bearer key is free. It returns purchased, consumed and remaining credits. Never place API keys or claim secrets in URLs, logs or analytics.
- Purchases: `GET /api/billing/checkout` checks live purchase availability; authorized `POST /api/billing/checkout` with JSON `{"plan":"starter"}` starts Stripe checkout, and private `POST /api/billing/claim` with purchase ID/claim token claims verified paid access. An existing Bearer key on checkout tops up its account. Read the full guide before purchasing.
- Optional TESTNET-ONLY experiment: `GET https://salsmart.com/api/paid/product-search?q={name-or-barcode}&limit=5`. x402 v2, Base Sepolia (`eip155:84532`), 0.01 testnet USDC per request. HTTP 402 includes a Base64 `PAYMENT-REQUIRED` header. This does not purchase real prepaid credits. Use `/api/v1/search` and the standard plan for real-money production access; basic free search has its own limits.
- Status: `GET https://salsmart.com/api/data-status`. Read `fresh_stores`, `total_stores`, `stale_stores`, and per-branch `sources`. `last_success_at` is the successful fetch/import time, separate from source publication and item price-change dates.

Product and category pages are prebuilt snapshots. Search offers include `source_file`, public `source_url`, `source_published_at`, `fetched_at`, and `refresh_status` when recorded. Use ISO timestamps with their explicit timezone; never substitute update_date for fetched_at. The configured refresh cadence is every six hours; a schedule is not evidence of success. Live freshness currently means a successful fetch within 12 hours and source publication within 72 hours. Inspect the live status, including failures and unknown timestamps. Coverage is partial, not all Israeli stores; read live counts and individual source status. When answering, include chain, branch, source price-change date and successful-fetch time separately when known. Say “הזול מבין הסניפים שבמאגר” and preserve missing or old data.
